The coffee market is crowded. Most brands compete on origin, on light versus dark roast, on value for money.
Mount Sun Moon does not chase a single style. It is a curated platform. Good coffee comes in more than one form, and every roaster has their own fire and their own taste. So rather than one brand declaring one standard, we invited five artisans with very different lives behind them to interpret the land in their own way. Mount Sun Moon then selects, arranges and places their work in one box.
One box of drip-bag coffee, five flavours, laid out like a map. All you need is hot water and a cup to get to know five artisans, one at a time, and find the one you love. Together the five flavours stand for balance across the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
How we differ from what's on the shelf
Common choice
Where it falls short
What Mount Sun Moon holds to
Chain-store or mass-market gift sets
Widely available but uniform in taste; the brand centres on the company, with little warmth from the people who make it.
Curated and signed: collect the craft of five independent roasters at once, every bag carrying a name and a story.
Single-roaster independent brands
Expert in their style, but bound to one shop's character, without a full contrast across layers of flavour.
A five-element matrix: crossing the lines between houses to draw a complete, balanced map of taste in one box.
Traditional festive gift boxes
Loud, elaborate, plastic-heavy packaging that loses its meaning once the holiday is over.
Quiet, minimal, literary: less plastic, cloth materials and a restrained palette of navy, gold and silver, made to stay with you day to day.
Brands built on packaging and hype
Buzz and price are pushed up by marketing, yet popular does not mean good, and expensive does not always taste better.
Back to the land and to purity: focused on layers of flavour, the artisan's spirit and everyday beauty, so every bag has a name that answers for it.
Our Story
Heaven, earth and people in a name
Sun, moon, mountain: three characters that paint a picture of heaven, earth and people.
天
Heaven · Sun and moon
The fullest light by day, the soft moon by night, and the stars farther still. Light comes from above; it makes all things grow and gives time its rhythm.
地
Earth · The mountain
The mountain never speaks, yet it holds everything, and it has watched the sun and moon rise and set countless times. Coffee trees on its slopes take in the land and the essence of sun and moon, and that is where the taste of every bean begins.
人
People · The artisans, and you with your cup
Five artisans turn the land into flavour through fire. You, drinking this cup, are the final brushstroke of the painting. Heaven and earth give light and nourishment; people settle their hearts and become light themselves.
In tune with heaven and earth
We respect the land and the seasons, and draw out nature as it is. The turning of sun and moon is where Mount Sun Moon begins.
One person, one flavour
Every roaster has a name, a story and a fire of their own. We want you to know the people who make the coffee, not just a bag of coffee.
Passing the light on
Sun, moon and stars shine quietly, watching over every life on Earth from across the vast universe: people, animals and plants, mountains, rivers and forests. Mount Sun Moon wants to pass that light on, to the people who drink our coffee and to children. Every pre-order gives 5% of the product price to arts and music programmes in experimental education.
Brand Spirit
Still at heart as the mountain, radiant in celestial light.
山靜心安,不語亦有光。
"The benevolent delight in mountains," as the old saying goes. A mountain stands firm not because it escapes wind and rain, but because its roots run deep. The first thing Mount Sun Moon wants to say is about inner calm. Boil the water, wait, let the aroma rise, and sit down steady, like a mountain.
High on the mountain, coffee trees quietly receive the care of sun, moon and stars year after year, until they bear good beans. Steady as a mountain, quietly holding the light of sun and moon.
We want to take one more step. The light of sun and moon falls on us, but we carry light of our own too. Everyone shines. Not the brightness of a light bulb, but the warmth people feel around someone whose heart is settled and full of kindness and compassion, like a spring breeze. The mountain does not speak, yet it has light; a person need not speak to have light either.
So we hope this cup first helps you settle your heart, then lets you shine your own light, gently, like the sun, moon and stars, on the people around you and on the world.
Brewing yourself a cup every morning is a ritual, a taste, a set of values, and a way of living.
Still at heart · radiant without a word
The symbol in our logo
Two peaks, climbing high to see far
The mountain line has two peaks, one after another, rising as if to lead people onward, to climb high and see far. The colour of the mountain and the sun comes from the golden yellow of the Loess Plateau: on metal it becomes a flowing, shimmering gold; on other materials it turns a deep, slightly mottled yellow, like the natural roughness of the earth. The moon is a clear, bright white, which on metal becomes a silvery glow.
Beyond what we see, endless possibility
The large gold circle at the summit is the sun; the smaller white circle in front is the bright moon. Offset from each other, the moon covers part of the sun, so what you see looks like a golden crescent. What the eye sees is not always the whole picture. May we look at the world with a wider view, enjoy what is beautiful, and imagine endless possibilities.

Origin Notes
Origin notes: which mountain your cup comes from
The beans our five artisans chose come from the highlands of six countries on three continents. Get to know a bean's home, and you understand the taste in your cup a little better.
Kenya
Kirinyaga
Approx. 1,600–1,900 m above sea level
On the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, red volcanic soil gives a bright acidity. Kenya excels at washed processing, often with blackcurrant and berry notes. AA is the top grade, based on bean size.
Emily
Indonesia
Sumatra · Mandheling
North Sumatra
Mandheling takes its name from the Mandailing people of North Sumatra. Beans here are often wet-hulled, giving a heavy body with cocoa and herbal notes. Golden Mandheling is a select grade, hand-sorted several more times.
Warren
Guatemala
Huehuetenango
Approx. 1,500–2,000 m above sea level
In the north-western highlands bordering Mexico, one of Guatemala's highest-growing regions. Hot, dry air from the Mexican plains keeps the high slopes frost-free, giving clean flavours and full sweetness.
WarrenBao Ge
Ethiopia
Yirgacheffe
Approx. 1,700–2,200 m above sea level
The birthplace of Arabica coffee. Yirgacheffe, in the southern highlands, is famous for florals and citrus; natural processing adds a ripe-fruit sweetness. G1 is Ethiopia's highest grade of green coffee.
Warren
Colombia
Supremo
The Andes
Supremo is not a region but a Colombian size grade, meaning large beans of screen 17 and above. The Andes run the length of the country, giving balanced flavour and round sweetness.
Warren
Honduras
La Paz
Montecillos range, approx. 1,400–1,550 m above sea level
An important coffee country in Central America whose specialty coffee has improved fast in recent years. Elias's family estate is in La Paz in the south-west, where smallholders and family farms often try experimental processes such as honey and anaerobic fermentation.

5%of every pre-order
A good cup of coffee brings light to life, and lights up children's dreams of art and music.
For every Mount Sun Moon Christmas pre-order, we give 5% of the product price (excluding shipping) directly to in-depth arts and music programmes at Lumière International Academy (LIA), an experimental education school. Just as roasters use their passion to bring out each bean's soul, every child deserves to be gently inspired through brushes, notes and experiences of beauty.
This winter, the coffee in your hands is a journey of flavour, and an art gift for children.
Once the pre-order closes, we will publish the amount given and a record of the programmes on this site.
